Dr. Gordon Josephson, C. Psych.

Dr. Gordon Josephson, C. Psych.

I have been registered as a psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario and working in private practice since 2004.  My office is located in South Centertown Ottawa and is in walking distance from many of the downtown offices or easily accessible by car or transit.  More information is provided in the Contact section.

I obtained a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Ottawa in 2004.  Prior to this, I worked both internationally and in the Federal Government and as such I bring to my interactions with clients my experience and knowledge from working cross-culturally and in the culture of the Federal Government. I completed my licensing year with Gilmour Psychological Services (G.P.S.) and continued as an Associate with G.P.S. from 2006 to 2011.

I provide psychotherapy and assessment services to adults experiencing a variety of challenges such as: anxietydepressionstressangercareer concerns and,  adjustment to major life changes (including injury and illness).

I also assist people with issues related to self-esteem, identity, and sexuality.  I work with intimacy and relationship difficulties and in addition to individual therapy I offer couple therapy.

I have a longstanding interest in Health Psychology and in the role of Psychology in not only treating but preventing physical and mental health problems.  Particularly through assisting people to better understand and increase their motivation for physical fitness and well-being.

In addition to direct clinical services, I offer organizational training in stress management and interpersonal communication.   I also occasionally consult to organizations assisting in the evaluation of their health related programs.

Throughout my career, and in each of the activities I am involved in, I am guided by a desire to make an impact towards positive change, whether at the level of the individual, family, organization or society.

The "I'm a bad person for having these feelings or doing these behaviours" actually locks us into the very behaviours that are causing suffering. - Tara Brach, Psychologist
